Gwinnett Stripers News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - The Gwinnett Braves, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves, have announced the following transaction affecting the Gwinnett roster today: free agent right-hander D.J. Carrasco has been signed by the Braves and assigned to Gwinnett. No counter move was necessary as the roster was previously at 24 players.
Carrasco, 35, pitched in four games for the New York Mets this season before being released. He went 0-0 with a 7.36 ERA (3 ER in 3.2 IP), walked none and struck out three. Carrasco also made two appearances out of the bullpen for Triple-A Buffalo of the International League, going 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA (1 ER in 3.0 IP).
A veteran of eight Major League seasons, Carrasco has previously pitched for the Kansas City Royals (2003-2005), Chicago White Sox (2008-2009), Pittsburgh Pirates (2010), Arizona Diamondbacks (2010) and Mets (2011-2012). He's 24-21 with a 4.50 ERA (247 ER in 493.2 IP) and two saves in 290 career appearances, including 24 career starts.
Carrasco will wear No. 40 and is available for tonight's game against Indianapolis.
