IronBirds Win Fourth Straight, 4-1 Over Renegades

Aberdeen, MD - The Aberdeen IronBirds beat the Hudson Valley Renegades 4-1 Sunday evening, extending their win streak to a season high four games.

The Renegades took the early lead. In the top of the third, John Koscso hit a two out single. He stole second and scored on Craige Lyerly's RBI double, giving the Renegades a 1-0 lead.

The IronBirds struck in the bottom of the fifth. Connor Narron worked a leadoff walk. He advanced all the way to third after an Austin Knight sacrifice bunt and a Dudley Leonora groundout. Kyle Hoppy then walked. With runners on the corners, Glynn Davis hit an RBI single, scoring Narron. Martin Serrata followed with a two RBI double to deep left field and it was 3-1 IronBirds after five innings.

Aberdeen tacked on one more in the eighth. Davis led off with a walk. Serrata then reached on a hit and a throwing error on the Renegades' allowed Davis to reach third. After Sammie Starr and Joe Velleggia struck out, Serrata got into a rundown, which scored Davis. Aberdeen led 4-1 and won by the same score. Kyle Simon pitched a scoreless ninth to get the save.

Matt Hobgood started the ballgame. In four plus innings, he allowed one run (earned), three hits, walked two and had two strike outs. Ryan Berry gets credit for the win in relief. He pitched two innings, allowed one hit, a walk and struck out two. Trevor Schull took the loss for the Renegades. He piched four and two thirds innings, allowed three runs (all earned), four hits, walked two and struck out one.

The two teams will wrap up a quick two game series tomorrow at Ripken Stadium beginning at 7:05 p.m. Mike Wright (2-1, 4.15) will get the start for the IronBirds, while the Renegades will counter with Jacob Partridge (1-4, 4.36).
