Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Right-hander Julio Soriano, in his first start for Aberdeen, pitched five shutout innings Saturday night to lead the IronBirds past Brooklyn, 5-0, in front of 7,914 fans at Keyspan Park.
Soriano, the 21-year-old from the Dominican Republic, gave up just three hits and fanned six. He was 2-3 4.46 in 12 games at Bluefield before joining Aberdeen.
James Hoey kept Brooklyn off the board in the 6th and 7th, while Henry Lozado pitched the 8th and Blake Owen the 9th as Aberdeen picked up its 3rd shutout of August and 5th of the season.
Ryan Finan's first inning RBI single scored Ryan Steinbach who doubled for a 1-0 lead. Later, Bobby Andrews and Rob Marconi singled in runs as the IronBirds had ten hits.
