Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Aberdeen, MD - The Aberdeen IronBirds fell 3-2 to the Lowell Spinners, the second straight night that the Spinners walked away with a 3-2 win.

Things got started quickly for the visitors as they got to IronBirds' starter Matthew Grimes right away. Deneir Lopez led off with a single. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third. Jordan Betts then came up and hit an RBI single and it gave Lowell a 1-0 lead. Betts also scored on a wild pitch later in the inning.

With Lowell leading 2-0, Aberdeen was held without a base runner through the first four innings. That changed when Jamill Moquete led off the inning with a solo home run to left, getting the IronBirds on the board. They still trailed, 2-1.

In the bottom of the eighth, with Spinners' starter Aaron Wilkerson back out for his eighth inning of work, the IronBirds loaded the bases with one out, but Wilkerson worked back-to-back strikeouts to get out of the jam.

Aberdeen trailed 2-1 heading to the bottom of the ninth, and for a second straight game mounted a rally. After Moquete struck out looking, Riley Palmer hit a line drive home run down the right field line, tying the game at two.

In the tenth, the Spinners got a one out single from Raymel Flores. He advanced to second on a passed ball and stole third. Deiner Lopez put down a bunt and the suicide squeeze was successful. Lowell took that 3-2 lead to the bottom of the tenth.

After back to back ground outs, Austin Anderson hit a deep fly ball to right center field, but Mike Meyers tracked it down for the final out of the game.

The IronBirds now head to Wappingers Falls for a three game set with the Hudson Valley Renegades. First pitch tomorrow night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
