Brooklyn, NY - The Aberdeen Ironbirds' struggles continued Wednesday night, as they lost to the Brooklyn Cyclones 5-2. The loss completed a three-game sweep of the 'Birds by Brooklyn, and marked Aberdeen's fifth straight loss.

The Cyclones took an early lead in the second. Aberdeen starting pitcher Parker Bridwell surrendered back-to-back one-out walks. Dylan Brown hit a slow roller to the shortstop Mychal Givens. He fielded it cleanly but threw wildly to first, allowing a run to score. Nelfi Zapata then hit an RBI-single, making it 2-0.

Brooklyn doubled their advantage in the third. Danny Muno and Charley Thurber hit back-to-back doubles, knocking in a run. A batter later, Brian Harrison doubled in Thurber, making it 4-0.

Aberdeen finally got on the scoreboard in the seventh. Joe Velleggia led off the inning with a single. Connor Narron then drilled a ball off the pitcher, Guillaume Leduc. The Cyclones' reliever picked it up and threw wildly to first. Velleggia moved to third and Narron to second. Leduc threw a wild pitch, scoring Velleggia. Jeremy Nowak knocked in Narron with an RBI-single, pulling the IronBirds to within two.

The Cyclones picked up an insurance run in the seventh. With two outs, Muno, Thurber and J.B. Brown hit back-to-back-to-back singles, scoring a run and making it 5-2.

Eduardo Aldama (1-0) got the win. He allowed just one hit over 5.2 shutout innings. Bridwell (1-1) took the loss. T.J. Chism (2) pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

The IronBirds return to Aberdeen on Thursday to begin a six-game home stand. First on the agenda are three games with the Staten Island Yankees. Aberdeen will have right-hander Jake Cowan (0-1, 3.60) atop the hill on Thursday. He'll go up against right-handed pitcher William Oliver (0-0, 0.00). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
