
Iowa Wild Signs Defenseman Andy Welinski to PTO

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa Wild General Manager Mike Murray today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed defenseman Andy Welinski to a professional try-out contract (PTO).
Welinski, 30 (4/27/93), collected 19 points (4-15=19), and 14 penalty minutes (PIM) in 54 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack and Rockford IceHogs in 2022-23. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound defenseman previously played for the Stockton Heat (2021-22), Lehigh Valley Phantoms (2019-20), and San Diego Gulls (2016-19, 2020-21). The Duluth, Minn. native has recorded 142 points (39-103=142) in 284 AHL games across eight seasons and played in the AHL All-Star Game in 2017-18.
The Anaheim Ducks selected in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. Welinski made his NHL debut with Anaheim on Dec. 11, 2017 and has posted six points (1-5=6) in 46 NHL games.
Prior to his professional debut, Welinski played at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he recorded 77 points (24-53=77) in 154 games. Welinski served as the captain of the Bulldogs during his senior season in 2015-16.
Welinski will wear sweater No. 3 with Iowa.
