November 10, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Stars scored a pair of goals in a nine-second span to break a 1-1 tie in the early minutes of the third period to beat the San Antonio Rampage 3-1 Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The loss snaps the Rampage's five-game point streak.
Rampage right wing Bill Thomas tied the game at one apiece with an unassisted goal at 17:57 of the second period. His eighth goal on the year was his fifth marker in his last six games.
Iowa's Mario Scalzo was credited with the game-winner as his first goal of the season at 2:50 into the third period broke the 1-1 tie. Loui Eriksson, who scored the game's first goal, and James Neal provided the helpers on the tie-breaker.
Iowa's Janos Vas followed nine seconds later with his fifth goal of the season to give the Stars a two-goal cushion over San Antonio (8-4-1-2; 19 points), who fall to second place in the West Division standings.
