ROME, GA - Ian Gac served a fly ball single to right, scoring Jordan Cheatham, giving the Kannapolis Intimidators the go-ahead run in the tenth inning and 3-2 win against the Rome Braves on Friday night. The win puts the Intimidators back at the .500 mark at 8-8 after opening the season with a six game losing streak.

Gac had an amazing day at the plate going 4-for-5 with two doubles, the game-winning single and a mammoth home run to center field. The Intimidators (8-8) other run came on a solo home run by Juan Silverio, giving the I's the lead in the fifth.

The Braves (7-9) battled back with a run in the eighth, the first earned run allowed in 26 innings by the Intimidators bullpen, but Drew O'Neil (1-0) worked out of a jam and pitched into two outs in the tenth setting up the game for JR Ballinger. Ballinger entered with two down and runners at the corners and induced a weak ground ball to second to get out of the game with the 3-2 win.

Matt Hopps pitched well but doesn't factor into the decision. Hopps went six, allowing five hits and just one earned run. Chris Masters, who hadn't allowed an earned run in 12 innings this season allowed both solo home runs to Gac and Silverio. Julio Surinach (0-1) took the loss in relief.

The win is the eighth in ten games for the Intimidators and it caps a 6-2 road trip where they won each series three games to one. The Intimidators return home for eight games at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium on Saturday night against the West Virginia Power. Lefty Joe Serafin (2-1) will take to the mound for the Intimidators and he will be opposed by righty Hunter Strickland (0-2). Fans are encouraged to arrive at 5pm to partake in a charity BBQ Bash where it tickets to sample and judge are only $5, proceeds to benefit the Joan Roberts Foundation, and stay late for post-game fireworks.
