
Intimidators Receive RHP Connor Walsh from Great Falls

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 16, 2014) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted right-handed pitcher David Putman to Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem today. In a corresponding move, the Intimidators receive right-handed pitcher Connor Walsh from Advanced Rookie Great Falls.
Putman, 24, is 0-3 with a 3.13 ERA (8 ER/23 IP) with 32 strikeouts in 19 relief appearances with five saves over two stints with Kannapolis. The former Duke Blue Devil appeared in six games with the Dash from June 28 to July 19, posting a 3.68 ERA (3 ER/7.1 IP) with 11 strikeouts. Overall this season, Putman is 0-3 with a 3.26 ERA (11 ER/30.1 IP) with 43 strikeouts and 22 walks in 25 games between Kannapolis and Winston-Salem. The White Sox signed him in June 2012 after he graduated from Duke with a degree in political science.
Wash, 21, joins Kannapolis after making 15 appearances out of the bullpen for the Great Falls Voyagers, going 1-1 with a 2.66 ERA (6 ER/201. IP) with 23 strikeouts. In his last six outings (since July 22), he has not allowed a run, working 10.1 scoreless innings while striking out 15 batters in that span. The White Sox selected Walsh in the 12th round of the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Cincinnati. During his last collegiate season, Walsh led the Bearcats with 70.0 innings pitched, going 5-8 with a 3.86 ERA over 14 appearances, including a team-high 11 starts as a redshirt sophomore in 2014. He was named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 28.
The Intimidators are in Greensboro today to play the third game of a 4-game series against the Grasshoppers. First pitch tonight is at 7:00 p.m. at NewBridge Bank Park.
