Savannah, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats (36-20, 80-42) continued their dominance of the Greenville Drive (18-38, 52-73) in this weekend's series, as they never trailed in a 9-3 victory on Saturday night.

The Sand Gnats took advantage of Drive starter Jamie Callahan (3-12) as he struggled with his control in the first inning. He issued four walks in the frame, with two of them bringing in runs to give Savannah a 2-0 lead.

The Drive would cut that lead in half in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Kevin Mager against Alex Panteliodis (5-3).

After the Drive turned to reliever Oscar Perez in the sixth, the Sand Gnats offense went off, scoring three runs and adding four more runs in the seventh. The sixth included RBI hits by Yeixon Ruiz and Champ Stuart, and in the seventh, the Sand Gnats got RBI singles by Jonathan Johnson and Jeff Glenn, an RBI groundout from Ruiz and a sacrifice fly from Stuart.

Mager, who finished the night 2-3 with three RBI, lined a two-run double in the ninth that scored Tzu-Wei Lin, who singled, and Sam Travis, who doubled. The hit would chase Panteliodis from the game after throwing eight and two-third innings and not striking out a Drive batter. John Mincone came on in relief and punched out Franklin Guzman to end the game.

In addition to Mager's solid night at the plate, Lin had three hits for Greenville. Ruiz, Patrick Biondi and Victor Cruzado all had two hits for Savannah.

The Drive will try to avoid a sweep in the four-game series on Sunday afternoon at 2:05. The terrific pitching matchup will feature Drive RH Teddy Stankiewicz (9-7, 3.86), who has allowed one run or less in his past three starts, and Sand Gnats RH John Gant (10-5, 2.55).
