(Kannapolis, NC) – Andrew Salvo, a native of East Islip, NY was traded Tuesday to the New York Mets along with two White Sox minor leaguers for second baseman Roberto Alomar.

Salvo played in 37 games with Kannapolis this season and hit .235 with one home run and six RBI for the Intimidators. He started the season with High A Winston-Salem hitting .185 in five games.

As part of the deal, the White Sox also included relievers Royce Ring and Edwin Almonte. Ring was Chicago's first-round pick in the 2002 Draft and had 19 saves in AA Birmingham. Almonte was the closer for AAA Charlotte.

Alomar hit .262 through 73 games with the Mets. The switch-hitter has two home runs, 22 RBIs and six stolen bases.

The Intimidators face the Delmarva Shorebirds Tuesday night in Salisbury, MD for game two of the four game series. The team returns home Friday hosting the Hagerstown Suns on the Fourth of July at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium beginning a ten game, eleven day home stand.
