July 4 - Fourth of July fireworks display presented by Thrifty Car Rental, Cumulus Broadcasting, and WB 15 following the Sand Gnats 7:05pm game against the South Georgia Waves.
July 5 - Get ready for more fireworks presented by Memorial Health, WB 15, and Cumulus Broadcasting following the Sand Gnats 7:05pm game against the Waves. It's also Beaufort Night presented by Internet Services of the Low Country and Carolina Auto Trim.
August 5 - Sand Gnats Pro - Am Golf Tournament presented by WB 15 and Clear Channel. Play golf with the Sand Gnat players. Cost of a foursome is $500 and individual entries are $150 per person. Hole sponsorships are also available. Tournament proceeds will benefit the American Youth Baseball Association.
Today in Baseball History - 1990 - It's tough to win if you don't score. Andy Hawkins of the Yankees pitched the sixth no-hitter of the season. He lost the game. With a score tied at zero in the eighth, Sammy Sosa reached on a Mike Blowers error. Two walks loaded the bases. Robin Ventura hit a sacrifice fly to left field . . . which was dropped by Jim Leyritz. Ivan Calderon hit a fly to Jesse Barfield in right . . . who also dropped the ball. The Yankees lost to Chicago, 4-0. Hawkins was the second pitcher in history to lose a major league no-hitter. Ken Johnson of Houston lost one, 1-0, in 1964.
