Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Charleston, WV ? The Intimidators (36-29, 67-68) finished the season with a 4-3 loss against the West Virginia Power (45-25) at Appalachian Power Park on Labor Day.
The Intimidators needed a win today to secure a winning overall record but fell one under .500 just like last season when the club finished 69-70 for the year.
This afternoon Kannapolis was led offensively by Brent Morel. The 2008 3rd round draft pick by the White Sox drove in all three Intimidators runs including a two-run home run in the 8th inning to give Kannapolis a 3-2 lead.
The Intimidators bullpen was unable to hold the advantage. Leroy Hunt gave up a run in the bottom of the 8th and Tyson Corley (0-5) took the L with a run given up in the 9th.
On the bright side, the Intimidators stole four bases in the game. Morel (5th), Jordan Danks (1st), Jim Gallagher (10th) and Sergio Morales (18th) swiped bags in the defeat.
Starter Jason Rice lasted five solid innings giving up just two runs on six hits but took a no-decision.
The 2009 season opens at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium on April 9th with Opening Day against the Asheville Tourists.
Season tickets, ticket plans (8, 15 and 35 game packs) and individual game tickets for 2009 are already on sale. Call 704-932-FANS or order online at intimidatorsbaseball.com.
