International League Names Players of the Week

Published on June 25, 2018 under International League (IL1) News Release

The International League announced today that Durham second baseman/left fielder Brandon Lowe and Buffalo left-handed starter Ryan Borucki have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from June 18-25. Each is the first member of his respective team to claim an IL weekly award this season.

BRANDON LOWE, Durham Bulls IL BATTER OF THE WEEK Brandon Lowe rode a huge power surge to IL Batter of the Week honors, hitting .400 over the past six games and leading the League with ten hits, five home runs, ten RBI, nine runs scored, and a 1.080 slugging percentage. His first five home runs at the Triple-A level have all come over the past four days, including a two-homer night Saturday in Indianapolis. He is now batting .263 since being promoted to the Bulls from Double-A Montgomery earlier this month.

23-year-old Brandon Lowe is in his third season as a professional player after being selected by Tampa Bay in the 3rd round of the 2015 draft. In 2017 he was named Most Valuable Player of the Class-A Florida State League. Lowe is a native of Newport News, Virginia.

RYAN BORUCKI, Buffalo Bisons IL PITCHER OF THE WEEK Blue Jays pitching prospect Ryan Borucki delivered a complete game shutout on Tuesday to lead the Bisons past Pawtucket 4-0 in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Borucki surrendered just three hits and a walk while striking out four for his sixth victory of the season, while lowering his ERA to 3.27 in the process. The 7.0-inning affair Tuesday marked his first complete game shutout in the Minor Leagues.

24-year-old Ryan Borucki is in his sixth season as a professional pitcher. He made his Triple-A debut with Buffalo late last season, and it is being widely reported that he will soon make his Major League debut for Toronto. Borucki is a native of Mundelin, Illinois.
