Spokane Chiefs News Release

As superstitious as hockey players are, somebody is going to have to change something. Start putting their socks differently, tape their stick the opposite way, drive a different route to the rink...anything, because what is going on now for the Spokane Chiefs is not working.

In the last 13 days, five different veteran players have suffered injuries that will keep them out of the line-up for a significant amount of time.

It started in the February 2nd game against the Calgary Hitmen when Seth Compton broke his ankle and was ruled out for up to eight weeks. The following week, Drayson Bowman and Justin Falk both went down with wrist injuries, keeping both of them out of the lineup for an indefinite amount of time.

Prior to Wednesday's game at Kamloops J.P. Szaszkiewicz came down with appendicitis and had surgery at a local hospital. He will be out for three to four weeks. During the game, David Linsley suffered a shoulder injury that will put him on the shelf for four weeks.

The Chiefs have traveled from Kamloops to Seattle to take on the Thunderbirds on Friday night in their eighth and final matchup of the season. Spokane recently took both halves of a home-and-home series against Seattle as David Rutherford scored two goals and four points in the series. Gametime on Friday night is scheduled for 7:30. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 7:00 with Comcast Hockey Tonight on KJRB 790 the Fan.

Spokane will return home on Saturday to host the Kootenay Ice on Turn Back the Clock Night presented by Miller Lite. Saturday's game will begin at 8:30.

Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
