Chiefs represented at Canadian Winter Games

The Spokane Chiefs will be well represented at the 2007 Canadian Winter Games as five members of the organization will represent their respective provinces, including defenseman Mike Reddington. The men's hockey tournament will begin on February 24th with the finals taking place on March 2nd in Whitehorse, Yukon.

The 16-year-old Reddington, the Chiefs second round selection in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft, will play for Team BC. Reddington, out of Port Coquitlam, BC has appeared in 56 games in his rookie season and is +4 with 53 penalty minutes. Derek Lee, Spokane's sixth round pick in '05, will also play for Team BC. Lee has scored 15 goals and 36 points in 43 games with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL.

Jared Cowen, the Chiefs first round pick (first overall) last summer, will play for Team Saskatchewan. In 39 games with the Saskatoon Contacts of the SMAAAHL, Cowen has 24 points, including 21 assists, and 103 penalty minutes. Cowen has played three games this season for Spokane. Rylan Schwartz, Spokane's fourth round pick in '05, will also play for Team Saskatchewan. Schwartz is second in the SMAAAHL in scoring with the Notre Dame Hounds with 28 goals and 70 points in 38 games.

Andrew MacWilliam, Spokane's ninth round pick in '05, will play for Team Alberta. MacWilliam is playing for the Calgary Royals of the Alberta Migdet Hockey League. No stats were available at press time.

ELSEWHERE

Spokane's second round pick last summer, Burke Gallimore, has been named the Alberta Hockey League's Player of the Month for January. Gallimore was selected 23rd overall and has 16 goals and 41 points in 34 games this season for the Edmonton Canadians.
