GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, have announced that infielder Steve McQuail has been promoted to Class-A Advanced Visalia while the Cougars have received infielder Henry Castillo from the D-backs' spring training complex in Arizona. Today's roster move maintains an active squad of 25 players as a four-game homestand continues this evening at 6:30 p.m. against Burlington.
McQuail (Minor League free agent, 2013) is the fourth Cougars player to receive a promotion this season, joining outfielder Chuck Taylor along with pitchers Mason McCullough and Bud Jeter on the Visalia roster. McQuail was mainly used as a designated hitter this season, playing in 27 games and batting .250 with 9 RBI.
Castillo (Non-drafted free agent, 2013) split last season between the D-backs' Arizona League rookie affiliate where he was named a postseason Arizona League All-Star. Castillo also played in 24 games last season at Rookie-Advanced Missoula.
