
Captains Win Sixth in a Row

Lake County Captains News Release
(Ft Wayne, IN) -The Lake County Captains earned their sixth win in a row with a 5-2 win over the Fort Wayne Tincaps. The Captains capitalized on five Tincaps errors and scored four runs in the first three innings and got a third straight quality start from Anderson Polanco to pick up another series win.
Greg Allen started the game by drawing a walk. Claudio Bautista would then reach on an error, putting runners at first and second. Allen would come around to score on the second Tincaps' error of the inning on a ball hit by Yu-Cheng Chang. A Dorssys Paulino RBI single would score Bautista. Chang would come around to score on an RBI sacrifice fly by Bobby Ison giving the Captains a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
The Captains would add a single run in the top of the third inning. Chang singled to start the inning and sacrificed to second base by Paulino. Chang would score on Martin Cervenka's RBI double to push the Captains lead to 4-0.
The Tincaps would get an unearned run in the fourth inning. Franmil Reyes would reach on a fielding error by Chang to start the inning. Reyes would eventually score on a RBI sacrifice bunt by Henry Charles.
The Captains would get an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning. With two outs, Cervenka walked Ison singled. Cervenka then scored on Grant Fink's RBI single.
Polanco would not qualify for the win after going only four innings. However, he only allowed the one unearned run while scattering three hits. He walked two and struck out eight. Jordan Carter (1-1) earned the win in three innings of relief. He allowed just two hits and struck out four. Luke Eubank earned his second hold of the season with one relief inning. He allowed one run on one. He walked one and struck out one. JP Feyereisen (8) earned his Midwest League leading eighth save with a perfect inning of relief. He struck out two.
With the win the Captains record improves to 18-15. They also move into a tie for second place in the Eastern Division and sit just two games out of first place.
The Captains will go for their second series sweep of the season on Thursday night in Fort Wayne. Lefthander Justus Sheffield (2-1) will start for the Captains. First pitch is at 7:05 and can be heard on 1330AM WINT.
