Norfolk Tides News Release
The Orioles today announced that they have selected the contract of INF SCOTT MOORE from Triple-A Norfolk.
Moore, 26, was batting .276 (34-123) with six doubles, a triple, five home runs and 23 RBI in 34 games for the Tides.
Moore played in four games for the Orioles in 2008 and in 17 games in 2007 after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for RHP STEVE TRACHSEL on August 31, 2007. He was originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers with the eighth overall pick in the 2002 First Year Player Draft.
To make room for Moore on the 40-man roster, the Orioles have designated INF JUSTIN TURNER for assignment. Turner appeared in five games for the Orioles earlier this season and was hitless in nine at-bats.
Moore will wear uniform #40.
