INF Ed Rogers Elevated To Columbus

Infielder Ed Rogers has been promoted from the Harrisburg Senators to Triple-A Columbus. William Bergolla joins the Senators from extended Spring Training in Viera, Florida.

Rogers, 29, hit .148 (4 x 27) for the Senators in seven games. He played at the Triple-A level each of the past three seasons, including last year for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Rogers played in the major leagues for the Baltimore Orioles for parts of 2002, 2005 and 2006.

Bergolla, also a middle infielder, played the last two seasons at Triple-A. Last year with Fresno (Triple-A Giants) he hit .306 with seven home runs, 37 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Bergolla, 25, holds a career batting average of .290 in eight minor-league seasons.

Washington placed INF Dmitri Young activated C Johnny Estrada from the 15-day disabled list. He had been on a rehab assignment with Columbus.
