The Binghamton Mets set a club record with 18 runs and tied a team mark with 22 hits in an 18-13 win over the Erie SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park Friday. The win evens the series at a game apiece.
The B-Mets (5-4) took a 1-0 lead in the first when Mike Carp singled home Fernando Martinez. Dusty Ryan's solo homer off Eric Brown in the second tied the score before Binghamton took the lead for good in the third. Nick Evans and Jose Coronado singled in Emmanuel Garcia and Mike Carp, respectively, before Ambiorix Concepcion came home on an error for a 4-1 B-Mets lead.
After Will Rhymes' double-play groundout scored Danny Worth to pull Erie (6-3) within 4-2 in the third, the B-Mets erupted for four runs in the fifth. After loading the bases with no out on consecutive singles by Murphy, Evans and Carp off Luke French (0-1), Concepcion's sacrifice fly brought in Murphy, Coronado doubled in Evans and Carp and Coronado scored on an error for an 8-2 Binghamton advantage.
Not to be outdone, the SeaWolves scored four runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth, chasing Brown from the game and pulling to within 8-6. Reliever Edgar Alfonzo (1-1) got the inning's final two outs.
The B-Mets then put together a five-run sixth. Garcia and Murphy began the frame with back-to-back singles before Evans hammered a three-run homer to left. Carp reached on an error and moved to third on Concepcion's double before Coronado singled in Carp and Jonathan Malo brought in Concepcion with a sacrifice fly for a 13-6 B-Mets lead.
Three more runs scored in the Binghamton half of the seventh. Martinez led off with a double and scored on Garcia's single. Murphy reached on an error before Evans scored Garcia with a sac fly. Carp then doubled in Murphy to make it 16-6.
Erie scored five in the seventh and one in the eighth to get within 16-12, but the B-Mets tacked on two more in the ninth. Evans singled home Murphy, who had doubled, and Concepcion singled in Evans to make it 18-12. A Ryan Roberson homer in the Erie half of the ninth closed out the scoring.
Three different B-Mets finished with four hits apiece, led by Evans, who was 4 for 6 with a homer, 6 RBI and 3 runs. Murphy finished 4 for 6 with a double and four runs and Carp was 4 for 6 with a double, three runs and two RBI. Concepcion and Coronado each finished with three hits.
Saturday, the B-Mets play the third game of their four-game series at Erie. Jake Ruckle (0-0, 0.00) will start for Binghamton against Andrew Kown (1-0, 0.00) of Erie. Game time is 1:05 from Jerry Uht Park with the radio broadcast beginning at 12:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.

They also collected 22 hits 8/15/1997 @ POR and 8/8/1994 vs. Albany...Murphy and Evans each have seven hits over the first two games of the series...the start of the game was delayed 35 minutes by rain...Binghamton did not bat around in any inning...Malo was the only player in either lineup without a hit.
