INF Daniel Lockhart Heads to Tennessee

The Chicago Cubs have announced the following roster moves affecting the Myrtle Beach Pelicans:

-INF Daniel Lockhart has been assigned to Double-A Tennessee from Myrtle Beach.

-OF Trey Martin has been assigned to Double-A Tennessee from Myrtle Beach.

-INF David Bote has been assigned to Myrtle Beach from Triple-A Iowa. He will wear No. 15.

-INF Andrew Ely has been assigned to Myrtle Beach from Low-A South Bend. He will wear No. 4.

Lockhart played in 37 games with Myrtle Beach in 2016, hitting .244/.290/.370 with six doubles, three triples, one home run and 12 RBIs. The Dacula, Ga. native finished a home run shy of the cycle in two separate games this season. Last year, Lockhart was the starting second baseman on the Pelicans' 2015 Carolina League championship squad.

Martin was also a member of that Mills Cup title team. The Snellville, Ga. native won the Rawlings Gold Glove Award as the Minor League's best defensive center fielder in 2015. This season, he batted .233/.308/.267 with three doubles and 12 RBIs. Martin reached in 10 of his last 11 games with the Pelicans before his promotion.

Bote returns to the Grand Strand for his second stint with the Pelicans in 2016. The Colorado native was on the club's Opening Day roster, playing in six games before hitting the disabled list Upon activation, he was transferred to Triple-A Iowa, where he hit .364/.417/.500 with a homer and three RBIs in 12 games.

Ely will be appearing in a Myrtle Beach uniform for the first time in his career. A 32nd-round pick by Chicago in 2014, Ely batted .295/.368/.398 with 11 doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs in 44 games with South Bend. Ely was named All-Pac-12, All-Pac-12 Defensive and Second-Team All-Pac-12 Academic at the University of Washington.

The Pelicans' roster sits at 25 active players.
