Norfolk Tides News Release
July 26, 2006 - Jose Lima allowed just two runs in seven strong innings, but the Tides could not push across a run in a 4-0 loss to the Indianapolis Indians Wednesday night.
Lima (6-6) yielded just four hits and two walks while striking out five, but the Tides left 10 men on base en route to their 9th shutout of the season.
Indy jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning, as Craig Stansberry worked a leadoff walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Reames before scoring on a single to left field by Chris Duffy.
After the single by Duffy, Lima retired 12 of the next 13 batters before Adam Boeve reached him for a two-out single in the 7th inning. Boeve then stole second base and scored on an infield single by Stransberry to make the score 2-0.
The Indians added two insurance runs in the 8th inning off of reliever Orlando Roman for the final margin.
Britt Reames (4-1) picked up the win for Indianapolis, as he allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out five in 5.2 innings of work. Josh Sharpless, Scott Strickland and Jonah Bayliss pitched the final 3.1 innings to help the Indians tie the four game series at 1-1.
Norfolk and Indianapolis will square off again Thursday afternoon, with Yusaku Iriki (2-6, 5.52) set to take the mound for Norfolk against former Tide Matt Ginter (0-1, 4.00). Game time is set for 12:15 p.m.
