
Brito, Barons drop Braves

MOOSIC, PA - Eude Brito tossed seven scoreless innings and Carlos Ruiz slugged a three-run homer as red-hot Scranton/Wilkes-Barre beat visiting Richmond, 4-1, on Wednesday.
Brito (9-6) yielded five hits and three walks while striking out two. The 27-year-old left-hander has allowed six runs in his last six outings, lowering his ERA to 3.18. He has won four of his last five decisions.
Clay Condrey fanned two in a perfect eighth. Brian Sanches gave up a run on two hits and a walk in the ninth for the Red Barons (58-46), who have won 10 of their last 13 and are an International League-best 15-9 in July.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored its runs in the third. Michael Bourn smacked a two-out double, and Joe Thurston and Chris Roberson hit consecutive singles for a 1-0 lead. Ruiz followed with his 10th homer to make it 4-0.
Michael Ryan spoiled the shutout bid in the ninth with an RBI single for the Braves (38-65), who have lost four straight games and nine of their last 12.
Richmond starter Matt Wright (1-2) gave up four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two over six innings. Franklin Nunez fanned two in two perfect frames.
