April 11, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL are pleased to announce that the inaugural RoadRunners Student Recognition and Learning Program garnered more than 3,000 books from schools and students Valley-wide for patients at Banner Children's Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center.

These books were personally delivered Thursday by the RoadRunners' mascot "Rocky", and members of the RoadRunners' staff.

The first-year program was open to schools across Arizona. Participating students and faculty received one free lower level ticket to a RoadRunners home game as designated by each school and a free RoadRunners' foam finger.

The RoadRunners also recognized "Three-Star" students from each school with two free lower level tickets, a free RoadRunners' foam finger, and an autographed 8 x 10 player picture. In addition, schools had the opportunity to select two outstanding students for a special on-ice recognition ceremony during an intermission.

To promote the values of education, the RoadRunners asked every participating student in the program to donate at least one book to Banner Children's Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center. The books donated ranged from beginners to advance readers.
