Club de Foot Montreal News Release
Orlando, Florida - In Orlando since Tuesday, the Montreal Impact will face the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in its opening game of the Disney Pro Classic tournament on Friday, 8pm ET. The game will be streamed live on MLSsoccer.com.
"We are pleased with the competition level of our guys so far and the way they have come together," said Impact head coach Jesse Marsch. "We are all very wise to the fact that being a new team, it's going to be tough this year, but we are putting in the work to move the group along and preparing mentally for the long haul. Even though we have been together for only five weeks now, there are elements and relationships on the field in which we look like a team."
With just 16 days before the team's inaugural game on March 10, at BC Place, this match will serve as a preview for that historic dual with Whitecaps.
"Because tomorrow's game is part of a tournament, the competition level will be closer to what a real regular season game will be like," said midfielder Patrice Bernier. "We had a few days off, giving our legs a little rest. Now, we are playing our first game at night, which adds to the real feel of the game."
The Whitecaps earned a 2-1 win in its last preseason game against the University of Victoria Vikings in British Columbia, bringing its preseason record to 1-0-2.
Following the game against Vancouver, the Impact goes on to face Sporting Kansas City, Davy Arnaud's former team, on Sunday, February 26 at 3pm, and then plays Brian Ching and his Houston Dynamo on February 29 at 8pm.
The Impact has a record of 4-2-5 in preseason action since the start of camp, including an undefeated tour in Mexico in January (2-0-2).
The Impact will play its home opener at Olympic Stadium on March 17, against the Chicago Fire, at 2pm.
Season tickets are available online at impactmontreal.com or by calling 514-328-3668 while individual tickets for the five games presented at Olympic Stadium are available through Admission.
