Club de Foot Montreal News Release
As part of the 7th edition of the "All the Way with the Impact" program, the Montreal Impact has announced that the Quebec Association of Independent Schools (QAIS) has come onboard, Thursday, during a conference held at West Island College, in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
The QAIS represents the 10th school board to join the program, founded in 2006, which aims at sharing the sporting values of perseverance, excellence and success.
"It is very special for me to be back at West Island College, where I studied 30 years ago," said Montreal Impact president Joey Saputo. "Perseverance has always helped me throughout life. We cannot insist enough on the importance of helping kids pursue their dreams and goals. We are happy to extend our program to new schools, and help reach more students."
This partnership will enable students of the QAIS to attend the April 28 Impact game, against the Portland Timbers, at Olympic Stadium. Two students, who have excelled at both the academic and sport levels, will receive a Tony Licursi bursary. "Sport teaches essential values and life skills and is an integral part of the quality education offered at QAIS schools. We share the pride and excellence that is prominent in the Impact slogan Tous pour Gagner," said QAIS executive director Michel Lafrance. "We are enthusiastic and look forward to participating in the "All the Way with the Impact" program, which is based on determination and perseverance and look forward to the QAIS Game Day on April 28th."
Impact director of soccer operations Matt Jordan was also on hand to meet the students. He discussed his 15 years as a professional player and explained his transition with the technical staff.
Over the next few weeks, the Impact players will visit thousands of students to share their experience and challenges in their quest for excellence.
The QAIS joins the nine other school boards and associations that are participating in this project: the Montreal School Board (CSDM), the Pointe-de-l'Ile school commission (CSPI), the Marie-Victorin School Board (MVSB), the Commission scolaire des Affluents, Fédération des établissements d'enseignement privés, the English Montreal School Board (EMSB), the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board (SWLSB), the Lester B. Pearson School Board (LPSB) and the Riverside School Board (RSB).
ABOUT THE QAIS The Quebec Association of Independent Schools is comprised of 24 schools that provide an exceptional educational experience to all their students. The QAIS promotes innovation, collaboration and educational excellence, and strives to be the leading voice of educational excellence in Quebec.
