Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - Prestigious Italian club A.S. Roma, a three-time champion of Italy and a nine-time Coppa Italia winner, will be playing the Montreal Impact in a massive international game this Wednesday night at Stade Saputo. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm EDT.
Excellent tickets for reserved seats in the grey category, as well as general admission tickets, are still available on 2f1c6a4593fc2fe10e289d5a6 impactmontreal.com - members (season ticket holders) already have their tickets for this match, identified as the "Game to be determined". The game will also be broadcast live on TVA Sports, on 98,5fm and on TSN Radio 690 (pregame show at 7pm).
"We're taking on a well-organized team with a lot of quality," said Montreal Impact head coach Mauro Biello. "Roma just unbalanced Liverpool with its quality on Monday night. There are some great players in that team, and for us, this is a great experience that will help us learn and grow ahead of the second half of our season."
The Impact advises supporters to get to Stade Saputo early and to use public transit. Traffic disruptions are scheduled on Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave., between Viau St. and Pie-IX Blvd., until the end of the season.
Please also take note of the full implementation of new security measures upon entering the stadium. All bags larger than 35 cm x 35 cm x 15 cm are prohibited. The full rules and regulations can be viewed on e613ecc891f20833b7f07d785 impactmontreal.com.
On this occasion, the Porchetta concession located under section 130 will serve pork roasted according to the traditional Roman method.
Roma comes out on top on Monday night in St. Louis
A.S Roma, led by stars such as Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi, Stephan El Shaarawy, Edin Dà ¾eko and Radja Naingollan, started their short North American tour well on Monday night at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The Giallorossi defeated Liverpool FC, 2-1, with goals by Dà ¾eko and Mohamed Salah.
Dà ¾eko is enjoying a superb preseason thus far with six goals in three games.
"There were many counter-attacks, both teams could have scored a number of goals on the break," Roma head coach Luciano Spalletti b3f884838654fbcd99db0f143 said in a press conference, as reported by ASRoma.com. "Both teams could have capitalized more [on that]. In the first half, in my opinion, my team could have moved the ball more quickly."
Spalletti had called up a 30-man squad for this trip to North America. However, defender Mario Rui flew back to Rome last weekend; he injured his ACL in training last Friday.
Founded in 1927, Associazione Sportiva Roma has won three Serie A titles, nine Coppa Italia titles as well as two Supercoppa Italiana titles over the course of its history. I Giallorossi finished third in Serie A last season, securing their qualification for the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League play-off round - their opponent will be revealed this Friday. The team reached the Round of 16 in the 2015-16 edition, losing to eventual winner Real Madrid, which just finished a 10-day stay at the Montreal Impact's facilities.
This will be the third match-up against an Italian team in Bleu-blanc-noir history. On May 23, 2010, at Stade Saputo, the Impact managed a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina and its then-captain, current Montreal midfielder Marco Donadel. Then, on June 2, 2010, legendary club AC Milan picked up a 4-1 win against the Impact in front of 47,681 fans at the Olympic Stadium.
Following game
The next MLS home game at Stade Saputo will be played this Saturday, August 6, against the Houston Dynamo (TVA Sports, 98,5fm & TSN Radio 690). Excellent individual tickets are also still available for this game on 2f1c6a4593fc2fe10e289d5a6 impactmontreal.com.
