Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA- Despite matching the opposition in hits Friday night at San Manuel Stadium, the Inland Empire 66ers (28-25) could not match the Lake Elsinore Storm (16-37) in the column that counts and fell 3-0. The teams square off again Saturday on Military Appreciation Night presented by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians complete with a camouflage jersey giveaway.

Lake Elsinore notched their runs with clutch extra base hits in the middle innings. In the 4th a Robert Kral double set up a sacrifice fly for Kyle Gaedele to give the Storm the lead. Then in the 6th back to back triples from Kral and Gaedele notched two more runs for Lake Elsinore.

The extra base hits aside, Inland Empire's pitching staff threw the ball well Friday night. Eric Cendejas and Michael Johnson threw three scoreless innings at the end of the game to keep hope alive for the 4,285 fans in the stands. But the Storm pen proved too strong today and kept Lake Elsinore in line for the victory. Despite the shutout Inland Empire hitters Alex Yarbrough and Eric Stamets each extended their hit streaks to seven games, and Michael Snyder pushed his to an active team leading eight.

Inland Empire will host Military Appreciation Night Saturday at San Manuel Stadium when they take on the Storm for game three of the series starting at 7:05. The game can be heard on AM 1050 KCAA starting with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians pre-game show at 6:55 PM.
