Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Bakersfield, CA - A visit from Hanley Ramirez wasn't enough for the Quakes on Friday night, as the Bakersfield Blaze routed Rancho Cucamonga, 14-7 at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
Ramirez played six scheduled innings in the field and finished 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI groundout in three plate appearances, as Rancho failed to make it two straight wins on the road.
Quakes' starting pitcher Duke Von Schamann saw his personal seven-game winning streak come to an end, as he was rocked for seven runs in just four innings of work.
Bakersfield jumped on Von Schamann (7-2) with three in the first, including a two-run homer off the bat of Marquez Smith, who finished the game with four hits and a season-high five RBIs.
The Blaze built their lead and kept pouring it on, eventually taking a 14-3 lead after seven innings.
Rancho tallied the game's final four runs with Ryan Mount finishing strong with three hits and two RBIs. Scott Schebler also had a strong night at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with his sixth home run of the year.
Blaze starter Carlos Contreras (3-5) earned the win, as he allowed three runs on four hits over five innings.
Rancho (26-28) will look to get back on track on Saturday night, sending Gustavo Gomez (1-2) to the mound, opposite Jacob Johnson (3-2) at 7:30pm.
The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Monday, battling division-rival Inland Empire at 7:05pm. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field very soon...Go Quakes!
