IceGators Drop Game Four To Ice Pilots 3-1
April 13, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
Pensacola, FL â The Louisiana IceGators dropped their second game in Pensacola tonight as the Ice Pilots fought back to even the best-of-five Central Division Semi-Finals at two games each.
The series will move back to the Cajundome Wednesday night for the final, winner-take-all game five.
The Ice Pilots opened the scoring in the second period after both goaltenders were perfect through the first 20 minutes. Dwayne Hay redirected a shot from Andreas Holmqvist that beat Derek Gustafson top-shelf.
Matt Dzieduszycki decided to make his first game in a Gators sweater memorable when he evened things up with less than a minute left in the second period. Ben Storey bounced the puck off Pilots' goaltender Brian Eklund and Dzieduszycki pounced on it for a power play goal.
In the third period, Pensacola scored two more goals to force a game five. Aaron Phillips walked around the IceGators defense and shot the puck past Gustafson for the go-ahead goal. Tyler Beechey finished the scoring with less than two minutes left. Gustafson faced 36 Pilots' shots, stopping 33, while Eklund made 32 saves on 33 Gators' shots
The IceGators will come back to Lafayette for game five, tomorrow night at the Cajundome at 7:05 p.m.
