Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Barrie Colts 7-4 at home, giving interim Head Coach, Jeff Angelidis, his first OHL win.
At just 5:33 into his 100th OHL game, Brenden Sirizzotti put the IceDogs on the board first. Daniel Michaud and David Jesus were credited with assists on the play. Under a minute later, the game was tied at 1 a piece. Pasquale Zito's high-pressure forecheck lead to a one handed tap in goal to send the Dogs to the dressing room up by a goal after 20 minutes of play. Owen Flores kept the game close with 17 stops on the period.
The second period started in similar fashion, with Agostinelli sending Pano Fimis breaking down the wing to beat the Barrie net-minder post and in to take the 3-1 lead. Not long after, Barrie answered with back to back goals within 13 seconds to tie the game 4-4 momentarily. At 8:56, Nolan Dann notched his 5th of the season with a one timer assisted by the hometown twins, Jacob and Andrew LeBlanc.
Just 1 minute into the third frame, Brenden Sirizzotti stripped the puck off of the Colts defender to pot a second in his milestone game. At 12:10 in the third, a Colts power-play goal brought the game within 1. Juan Copeland netted the insurance goal for the Dogs at 17:44 in, while Daniel Michaud was awarded his second helper of the night. David Jesus sent Aidan Castle towards an empty Barrie net to seal the deal and get his team leading 12th of the season.
Tomorrow night is the IceDogs Annual Teddy Bear Toss, bring a new or gently used stuffed toy to toss on the ice for charity after the first IceDogs goal!
