IceDogs Heading into Do Or Die Game 5 Following 4-2 Loss
April 11, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release
The IceDogs came into this game running off the high of winning game 3 at home, in overtime, with Kirill Maksimov's beautiful redirection past Fulcher.
In the 1st period, the Bulldogs got on the early, but Kirill Makismov wasn't done after his overtime heroics and he tied the game just a few minutes later. Ben Jones got Fulcher sprawling and Kirill tapped the puck into the open net! Jonesy picked up the assist on Maksi's game-tying goal! The rest of the period was fast paced, with both teams getting their share of chances. On a powerplay, Hamilton thought they scored, but goalie interference was called, and no goal resulted.
Less than two minutes into the second period, Justin MacPherson gave us the 2-1 lead with a snipe from the just off the face-off circle! J Mac's 2nd goal of the post season was assisted by Liam Ham and Sam Miletic. Stevie made some great saves in the remainder of the second, consistently shining between the pipes. There were periods in the middle frame where the IceDogs controlled play, really testing Fulcher.
The Bulldogs opened the third period with two quick goals to take the 3-2 lead. The Bulldogs scored an empty net goal in the final second. Despite our best efforts, and some great shots, we couldn't beat Fulcher for a late goal to tie it up, and fell 4-2. It's all coming down to tomorrow nights' game in Hamilton
