67's Pick Close to Home at 2018 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection Draft

Ottawa 67's News Release
OTTAWA, ON - The Ottawa 67's stayed close to home for Wednesday's OHL 2018 Under 18 Priority Selection with a trio of players from the area joining the Barber Poles.
The 67's used their first-round selection to take Arnprior native Jesse Dick with the sixth overall selection.
The 16-year-old had 30 goals and 60 points for the Pembroke Lumber Kings (Midget AAA) this past season. Dick previously suited up for the Ottawa Valley Titans (Minor Bantam AAA) from 2014-2016.
"Jesse was league MPV this year and is a very smart player who was a consistent point producer throughout the season," said 67's GM James Boyd.
With their second selection, the 67's took Ottawa goalie Joshua Ward 26th overall. The 6-foot-4, 223-pound 16-year-old had a 2.41 goals-against average and 0.913 save percentage in 24 games with the Ottawa Jr. Senators (Midget AAA) last year.
"Joshua is a hulking goaltender who uses his frame to his advantage. He has a late birthday and plenty of room for growth in his game," said Boyd.
Because the 67's chose a goalie in one of the first two rounds of Wednesday's draft, they were also entitled to a third selection. With it, Ottawa chose Orleans native David LaFrance. The 16-year-old defenceman had four goals and 16 points for the Rockland Nationals (Midget AAA) last year.
"David is a very smart and mobile defenceman who really came on as the season went along. He's a smart player who will really fit in well with our group," said Boyd.
All Midget players not currently on a CHL Member Team Protected List who were carded with a Midget AAA Hockey Club within the OHF, HNO, or HEO in the 2017-18 playing season are eligible for selection in the OHL Under-18 Priority Selection.
