Mark Visentin's final home contest before leaving for World Junior Championship Selection Camp was certainly a memorable one. Visentin was the games first star making 42 saves, and then six more in the shootout, but it was all for not as the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors outlasted the IceDogs 2-1 in front of 2,759 fans at the Gatorade Garden City Complex and Jack Gatecliff Arena Thursday night.

Dustin DeMelo scored the eventual game-winner, in the ninth round of the shootout, as the first place Majors improved to 25-3-1 on the season.

Mississauga captain Casey Cizikas was the only player to beat Visentin in regulation. Cizikas scored a shorthanded tally, his 16th goal of the season midway through the second period.

David Pacan gave Niagara the 1-0 lead on the powerplay 14:49 into the first, with his 10th tally of the campaign, but that was all the IceDogs could muster as Anthony Peters made 27 saves to pick up the win.

Niagara fell to 17-8-4 with the loss.

Newly acquired Darren Archibald made his IceDogs debut. The former Barrie Colt leading goal scorer picked up an assist and also scored in the shootout.

The IceDogs now head on the road for a pair of games. Friday night they're in Sudbury, before visiting Barrie Saturday night.

The Colts return to the Jack next Friday night for a 7 p-m start, and keep in mind this is the Teddy Bear Toss game. Please bring a new or gently used Teddy Bear in support of local charities and throw them on the ice when the IceDogs score their first goal of the game.

Tickets for this, and all IceDogs home games can be purchased at any IceDogs ticket location.
