Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs picked up their fourth straight win, defeating the visiting Mississauga St. Michael's Majors by a score of 11-0 at the Gatorade Garden City Complex Thursday night.
The first period saw the IceDogs come out flying as they would strike six times in the frame with Alex Friesen, Myles Doan, Jamie Oleksiak and Andrew Agozzino all finding the back of the net once, while Ryan Strome would add a pair. Oleksiak's goal was a power play marker, while Andrew Agozzino's was shorthanded. Shots in the period were 19-3 in favour of Niagara.
The second period would see the IceDogs carry the play once again, out shooting Mississauga 18-5 in the frame and scoring twice more as Friesen and Brett Ritchie would each add powerplay goals to make it 8-0 for Niagara after 40 minutes.
The third period would prove to be much the same as the first two, as the IceDogs would put up three more goals. Agozzino would score a pair to complete the hat trick, sandwiching a Freddie Hamilton goal to make it an 11-0 final. The eleventh goal would be shorthanded, giving Agozzino two shorthanded goals on the night. Final shots were 50-18 for the IceDogs.
Visentin was perfect again, turning aside 18 shots for his OHL leading eighth shutout of the season.
The IceDogs now hit the road for a pair of road games to finish off the weekend, as they travel to Barrie to take on the Colts Saturday night, before visiting Oshawa and the Generals on Sunday night.
