IceCats Recall Defenseman

WORCESTER, MA – St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and Worcester IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau announced today that the Worcester IceCats have recalled defenseman Joe Vandermeer from the IceCats ECHL affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Vandermeer has participated in two games with the Illinois-based Rivermen this season, recording two assists: 2(0/2/2). His 2002-2003 totals reflect nine goals and 42 assists in 67 games with the defunct Lexington Men ‘O War of the ECHL: 67(9/42/51). A native of Red Deer, Alberta, the 5-10 defenseman has appeared in two previous AHL games, one in 1999-2000 and one in 2000-2001, both with the Kentucky Thoroughblades. Vandermeer will wear number 2.

Also today, the IceCats reassigned goaltender Levente Szuper to the Peoria Rivermen. Szuper made his IceCats debut on Saturday, October 18th in Binghamton, facing 16 shots.

The IceCats are home to face the Springfield Falcons on Friday, October 24th and Portland on Saturday the 25th. Centrum Centre game times are 7:05 PM.
