Ice Pilots use power play to top Lynx

The Pensacola Ice Pilots used a pair of third period five-on-three power play goals to down the Augusta Lynx 4-1 on Wednesday night at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.

Jan Steber scored the only even strength goal of the game to open the scoring at 7:17 of the first period and make it 1-0 Ice Pilots. Anthony Battaglia would reply for the Lynx with a power play goal at 16:24 from Brian Passmore and Chris Leinweber to tie the game at 1-1 through 20 minutes of play. The goal extended Battaglia's scoring streak to eight consecutive games.

From there it was all Ice Pilots, as Steber added a power play goal in the second period while Shaun Landolt scored twice in the third as his team took advantage of a pair of five-on-three power plays to run away with the win.

David Cann stopped 21 shots for the win while Jason Wolfe turned aside 24 shots in the loss for Augusta. The Lynx finished the night 1-for-5 on the power play while the Ice Pilots ended the evening by going 3-for-8.

The Lynx are back in action this Friday night and Saturday afternoon with a pair of games in Greenville against the Grrrowl before returning home for a Sunday matinee at 4:05 pm against the Ice Pilots in the ninth and final meeting of the regular season between the two teams.
