FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons goaltender Jamie Holden secured his first career professional shutout when he made 23 saves to help lead the Falcons to a 3-0 victory over the Dayton Bombers at Save Mart Center.

The teams were scoreless through the first period and well into the second. Then, after Fresno failed to convert on its third power play of the game, Pete Fregoe raced up the right wing and found John Wroblewski in the slot, who fired a low wrist shot past the stick side of Dayton goaltender David Currie at 16:09.

Still leading just 1-0 mid-way through the third, the Falcons tacked on their first insurance goal at 11:04 when Fraser Clair corralled a loose rebound at the side of the net and re-centered for Derek Krestanovich, who banged home his 11th of the year. At 17:45 Fresno erased all doubt about the outcome after Luke Curtin found Rob McFeeters for a one-timer from the left circle. The assist extended Curtin's current point streak to a team season-high 10 games in a row dating back to Feb. 11.

The only thing left in doubt was whether Holden would capture the Falcons' first shutout of the year. After making 18 stops through the first two periods, the rookie out of Quinnipiac University faced only five shots in the third to seal the 23-save gem.

With the win, Fresno moves to 33-11-11 on the year with 77 points atop the Pacific Division, 10 points ahead of the second-place Long Beach Ice Dogs, who lost in overtime this evening to the Bakersfield Condors.

Fresno continues a six-game home stand on Friday when they welcome the San Diego Gulls to Save Mart Center. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Falcons trading card set, courtesy of Heald College, KSEE 24, and 95.7 The Fox.
