Titans pick up Stauffacher from Charlotte

TRENTON, NJ (March 8, 2006) - The Trenton Titans announced on Wednesday that they have acquired right wing Luke Stauffacher from Charlotte as part of the future considerations from the trade that sent defenseman Neil Petruic to the Checkers on February 2.

Stauffacher, 24, began his rookie season this year with the Checkers and has compiled nine goals, 11 assists and 84 penalty minutes in 84 games. A 5-foot-7, 175-pound native of Madison, Wis., Stauffacher skated for four years with the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD). In 154 career games at UMD, he collected 74 points (36g, 38a), posting a career bests as a Junior in goals (17), assists (18) and points (35).

Prior to his time at UMD, Stauffacher enjoyed a four-year career (1997-2001) with the Green Bay Gamblers of the "Junior A" United States Hockey League (USHL), serving as the Gamblers' Team Captain and leading the Gamblers in assists (33) and points (46) during his final season (2000-2001). Stauffacher also skated in two games with the Peoria Rivermen last year following the completion of his season senior season at UMD.
