Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (17-10-1) got back in the win column by downing the Huntsville Havoc (15-12-2) 4-1 on Friday night inside the Von Braun Center's Propst Arena. The win moved the Ice Flyers back into second place in the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Mark Rivera, playing in his first game with the Ice Flyers, got the scoring started with an unassisted tally that came with 8:46 left in the first period. In the second period, Adam Pawlick cashed in on a power play with Huntsville's Dave Williams in the box and put the Ice Flyers up 2-0 with 17:12 left in the middle frame. Cole Ruwe and Mike Krieg assisted on the goal. The Ice Flyers stretched their lead to 3-0 when Stephen Buco scored his fourth goal as an Ice Flyer with just five seconds left in the second. Junior Harris and Dean Moore assisted on the goal.

Harris had a strike early in the third period to push Pensacola's lead to 4-0. The unassisted goal came just 3:01 into the period. John McLean's shutout bid fell just short as Huntsville's Leland Fidler got the Havoc on the board with 4:31 remaining in regulation. Huntsville goalie Kevin Genoe spent a total of 2:33 on the bench with an extra Havoc attacker on the ice but they just weren't able to kick start a comeback.

McLean stopped 30 of the Havoc's 31 shots to improve to 9-4-0 on the season. His performance earned him the first star of the game honors. Harris was named the third star.

The Ice Flyers will be back in the Pensacola Bay Center tomorrow night as they welcome the Macon Mayhem into the Hangar. It will be the second Wiener Dog Race Night of the season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
