Peoria Rivermen News Release
THE MASKED MAN SHINES
Last night's Peoria win marked the 13th regular season shutout in the career of goaltender Kyle Rank, tying him with former Columbus netminder Andrew Loewen for most in an SPHL career. The whitewash was also Rank's 10th in a Peoria uniform, moving him ahead of former AHL Rivermen goalies Ben Bishop and Jake Allen for most in Peoria's 34-year history. Rank's 1.96 GAA places him first in the SPHL among active goaltenders with at least 540 minutes played, and Rank's 13 wins are also tops in the league.
A STU-PENDOUS RUN
Last night's 4-0 Rivermen win in Macon included a goal by Peoria forward Adam Stuart, extending his goal scoring streak to seven games. Since recording three points January 2 against Huntsville in Peoria, Stuart has 11 total points (7g, 4a) over his last seven contests to go with a +11 rating. For the season Stuart has 25 points on 12 goals and 13 assists in 26 games played.
THE WHOLE SHOOTING MATCH
The Rivermen enter tonight's contest second in the league in shots on goal per game at 33.18 and leading the league in fewest SOG allowed per game at 27.79. The Rivermen offense and defense also each lead the league in goals per game, with Peoria scoring 3.39goals per game while allowing just 2.00. This season the Rivermen are out-shooting opponents 340-236 and out-scoring their foes 37-16 in the first period of games, each good for the widest margin for any team in any period this season. When leading after one period this season the Rivermen are 14-2-0.
WHAT'S AHEAD
After tonight's game the Rivermen finish their stretch of road games with a rematch against the Cottonmouths in Columbus tomorrow night. Peoria will return to their home ice for a three-game series with Fayetteville January 29-31. After that the Rivermen will return to the road for a trio of games February 4-6 in Macon and Fayetteville before returning home for three games with Louisiana February 12-14.
