LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach scored in every period en route to a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Gulls for the Ice Dogs first victory of the season at Long Beach Arena. San Diego's Mark Pederson scored at 18:42 of the third with a man advantage after the Gulls pulled goaltender Trevor Koenig, but it was too little, too late. Tomas Hradecky put the puck past Koenig at 1:24 in the third period, his second goal of the season, which turned out to be the deciding goal.

San Diego started fast when defenseman Trevor Sherban's slap shot flew past Ice Dogs goaltender Mike Buzak's glove 2:27 into the contest. Long Beach right winger Chris Kenady tied the score when he deflected a perfect pass from Hradecky over Koenig at the 8:34 mark in the first period.

The Ice Dogs took the lead in the second with a power play goal when left winger Jamie O'Leary dodged a San Diego defender and beat Koenig.

Kenady, Hradecky and O'Leary all finished with a goal and an assist, and Chris Peyton recorded his third and fourth assists of the season. Buzak faced 26 shots, letting in two for his first win of the year.
