Ice Bears to Host Legends Night

KNOXVILLE, TN - This year, professional hockey is celebrating its 21st year in Knoxville and the Knoxville Ice Bears have set aside a special night to honor past and present Knoxville hockey players.
On Friday, January 16 at 7:30 p.m., players from the Knoxville Knights (1961-1968), Knoxville Cherokees (1988-1997), Knoxville Speed (1999-2002) and, of course, Knoxville Ice Bears (2002-present) will be present at the second home game of the new year. Representing the Knoxville Knights will be player/coach Don Labelle, and players Ken Turlik and David Lee. From the Cherokees, Captain Mike Murray and players Chad Thompson and Jeff Lindsay will attend. Speed Captain Mike Vandenberghe and players Brad Guzda and Tim Sinasac will be there as well. Also in attendance will be former Detroit Red Wings player Marc Rogers, who was a part of both the Knoxville Cherokees and Knoxville Speed teams.
As the Ice Bears take on the Winston-Salem T-Birds, individuals from these teams will be part of a special ceremony and will be recognized along with other youth and recreational hockey leagues from around Knoxville.
For this game only, the Ice Bears will be wearing jerseys that are almost identical to the jerseys worn by the original Knoxville professional hockey team, the Knoxville Knights. The only difference will be that the logos of the other three Knoxville minor league hockey teams will be represented on this jersey as well. At the end of the night, these special jerseys will be auctioned off.
