Knoxville Ice Bears News Release

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears trailed 2-0 through the first half of the game, until a four goal offensive explosion in a span of eight minutes turn the table to finish off the Fayetteville FireAntz 5-2.

With weary bus legs and a depleted defensive core, the Ice Bears trailed through the first half of the game. The FireAntz managed to notch two goals scored by Chris Leveille and Brandon Smith.

Rookie forward Berkley Scott ignited the Ice Bears with a nasty wrist shot to cut the FireAntz lead in half at 9:48 of the second period. The goal was set up by Brett Valliquette, who outworked his man in the corner after receiving a pass from Kyle VanDermale. Five minutes later, Scott returned the favor as he saucered a pass to a streaking Valliquette who broke in alone to beat FireAntz goalie Mike Brown.

The second period onslaught continued 90 seconds later as David Segal notched his third goal of the season as he blasted a shot from a feed from VanDermale. Less than a minute later, Valliquette tallied his second goal of the game to finish the scoring for the second period sending Knoxville to the locker room leading 4-2.

Fayetteville pressed in the third period but Ice Bears netminder, Bryan Hince was equal to the task as he robbed the FireAntz on several occasions. At 15:57 of the final period, Knoxville's Jason Ford sealed the victory with his first goal of the 2011-2012 campaign.

The Ice Bears head to DeSoto, MS for a two game series against the Mississippi RiverKings on Friday, December 7th and Saturday, December 8th at 8:05 pm each night.
