Ice Bears Dominate Third Period to Defeat Havoc 9-7

Knoxville, TN - (November 13, 2014) The Knoxville Ice Bears scored five goals in the third period to defeat the Huntsville Havoc 9 to 7. The match up started with a bang only one second in, when Knoxville's David Segal and Huntsville's Jordan Foreman were sent to the sin bin for fighting. The Huntsville Havoc jumped onto the score sheet early when forward Nick Lazorko scored unassisted only 13 seconds into the game. The Havoc extended their lead 27 seconds later when Mike Gurtler scored on the second shot of the game. The Ice Bears soon answered at 7:55 when Berkley Scott ripped a shot by Huntsville goaltender Kevin Genoe with assists by Jason Price and Joe Tolles.

Segal registered nine minutes in penalties with seven being if the first 10 minutes of play. While Segal was in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct and Berkley Scott was in for slashing, Huntsville capitalized on both opportunities scoring at the 10:43 and 15:29 mark to have Huntsville leading 4-1.

The Ice Bears cut into Huntsville's lead by finding the net at 16:09 with a wrap-around shot by Ryan Salvis, who was assisted by Ben Power and Josh Cousineau. With momentum, the Ice Bears' Francis Drolet scored with only 1:06 remaining in the first period. After 20 min of play, Knoxville trailed 4-3.

55 seconds into the second period, Gurtler scored a goal unassisted goal with traffic around the net to extend their lead 5-3. Huntsville added to their lead when Jacob Johnstone scored on the power play just 4 minutes later. The Ice Bears soon answered when Perreault fired a slap shot to the net with assists by Brad Pawlowski and Peter Neal. At the end of the second period, Knoxville trailed 6-4.

After Huntsville's Corey Bellamy was ejected from the game at 2:29 for an equipment violation and misconduct for verbal abuse of an official, the Ice Bears rattled off five unanswered goals. Goals were scored by Drolet, Josh Cousineau, Scott and two by Power. Huntsville notched a late goal but ultimately fell to the Ice Bears 9-7.

The Knoxville Ice Bears will play again at home on Thursday, November 20th for Hunger Games Night and Friday, November 21th for Pride in America Night.
