Ice Bears Come up Short against Cottonmouthsx

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears tried to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Columbus Cottonmouths would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Columbus made the score 3-0 on a goal by Ben O'Quinn at 14:10 in the first period, and Knoxville got as close as 3-2 when Jake Johnson scored 16:43 into the third period.

Columbus stifled the Ice Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Cottonmouths were helped by Bryce Williamson, who had one goal. Williamson scored 5:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Columbus. Matt Gingera picked up the assist. Columbus additionally got points from Gingera, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Columbus came via Craig Simchuk and Neilsson Arcibal, who each chipped in one.

Lou Educate also scored for Knoxville. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Ryan Hill, Ben Power, and Eric Satim, who contributed one each.

Andrew Loewen recorded 22 saves for Columbus. The Cottonmouths registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Ice Bears' Bryan Hince stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Knoxville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
