
Ian Happ Joins the Eugene Emeralds

EUGENE, OR - The Chicago Cubs have agreed to terms with their first round draft pick Ian Happ late Thursday evening. To start his pro career, Happ will join the Eugene Emeralds in Everett as they take on the Aquasox to open the 2015 season. Happ, who was the 9th overall pick in this year's amateur draft, was drafted in his junior year at University of Cincinnati.
Happ was named to the 2015 All-American first team twice and second team four times. He was also a first team Academic All-American, a Golden Spikes Award semi-finalist and first team All-Conference for the AAC. During his time at Cincinnati, Happ hit .338 with 120 runs scored, 44 doubles, 2 triples and 25 homeruns to finish with 107 RBI. Happ had his best year in 2015, hitting .369 with 18 doubles and 14 homers along with 44 RBI.
