Boise Hawks Win 2015 Home Opener Against Tri-City Dust Devils

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise Hawks season kicked off with a 3-1 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils in front of a nearly sold out crowd at Memorial Stadium.

Hamlet Marte led the Hawks, going 2-4 with a double and a run scored off of Dust Devils pitcher, Luis Hernandez that broke up a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the seventh.

The local product, Mason Smith started in right field for the Dust Devils and went 0-3 on the evening.

Javier Palacios received the win for the Hawks on opening day, giving up four hits and one run over seven innings pitched. John Sheehan got the hold in the eighth inning before Cristian Quintin closed out the ninth and picked up his first save of the season.

Terry McClure and Richard Prigatano drove in the other two runs as the Hawks improved to 1-0 on the season in front of 3,420 fans. It was the largest opening day crowd at Memorial Stadium since 2012.

The Hawks and Dust Devils meet again tomorrow night as Dylan Thompson is expected to take the mound for the Hawks against Jose Castillo of the Dust Devils. The game will start at 7:15 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
