The win was there for the taking for your Halifax Mooseheads but a late push by visiting Rouyn-Noranda put the Huskies over the top in a 3-2 comeback shootout victory at Scotiabank Centre.
The Huskies silenced a healthy crowd of 7,600+ on Saturday night as defenceman Dyllan Gill scored on a point show to tie the game 2-2 with 1:26 remaining in regulation. Louis-Philippe Fontaine later added the only goal of the shootout to give the visitors their fourth consecutive win.

Both of the starting goaltenders played excellent to keep their respective teams in the game. Mathis Rousseau stopped 32 shots in a losing effort while Thomas Couture had 27 saves for Rouyn-Noranda. The Mooseheads held a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Markus Vidicek and the first career tally for defenceman David Moravec. Vidicek struck moments after a Halifax power play ended in the final minute of the opening period while Moravec added to the lead 5:21 into the second period when he crashed the net and knocked in the rebound.
Rouyn-Noranda got on the board later in the middle period on the man advantage as their leading goal-scorer, Daniil Bourash, netted his ninth of the season.

Markus Vidicek, Jordan Dumais and Mathieu Cataford had the assists for the Mooseheads, who gained a point with the shootout defeat to bring their record to 5-1-1-1. The team has picked up 12 of a possible 16 points so far this season. The Huskies improved to 7-5-0-0. Rookie Bill Zonin had a pair of assists for Rouyn-Noranda with Dyllan Gill and Tristan Allard also chipping in with helpers.
Mooseheads veteran defenceman Cam Whynot was the victim of a check to the head by Alex Carr just 6:10 into the game. Whynot popped right back up but was forced the leave the game with an upper body injury and did not return. He was being reassessed following the game.
It's a quick turnaround for the Mooseheads who will welcome the Acadie-Bathurst Titan Sunday afternoon at 2pm at Scotiabank Centre. Tickets are on sale now at TicketAtlantic.com.
